The Day the Crayons Quit

This wonderfully imaginative book by Drew Daywalt is told entirely from the perspectives of a little boy named Duncan’s crayons. “The Day The Crayons Quit” is a series of letters Duncan finds one day from each of the different crayons, and all of them say the same thing. They quit! Red crayon is tired of being overworked, pink crayon is sick of never being used, and purple crayon insists that Duncan start coloring inside the lines… or else. This is a funny, short and sweet book that is just as messy and creative as the inside of a toddler’s mind. The handwriting and drawings are toddler-esque, and each crayons complaint shows young children that everyone’s concerns and opinions are valid. This is a great book, and if your child enjoyed it (which they probably will), there are 6 other books in the Day The Crayons Quit series.
