Goodnight Moon

This small, easily digestible book by Margaret Wise Brown follows a bunny as he says goodnight to each of the objects in his room before going to bed himself. It’s full of rhymes and simple pictures with a short and sweet arc. The repetitive words and simple rhymes are great to get kids to start recognizing verbal patterns. Seeing the cardboard pages still fills me with nostalgia and takes me back to my younger years. This is a wonderful book to read to your young children who can’t read themselves yet, especially before bedtime.

Another sweet bedtime story I’d recommend if your child liked “Goodnight Moon” is “Guess How Much I Love You” by Sam McBratney.
