Fancy Nancy

“Fancy Nancy” by Jane O’Connor is a very popular book among young girls. Known for putting her very own ‘fancy’ spin on everything she sees and does, Nancy has a vivacious and delightfully strong personality. “Fancy Nancy” is an eleven-book long series, each featuring Nancy in settings like weddings, fashion boutiques, and Christmastime. Robin Preiss Glasser’s brightly colored illustrations of Nancy’s activities add even more warmth to this already compelling story. Although Nancy might seem silly to some parents out there, she is anything but. She has the personality and individuality that makes her stand out from her less fancy but still worthwhile family, and has imagination and creativity that any toddler or child can easily relate to. “Fancy Nancy” also subtly includes small vocabulary lessons in each book, where Nancy uses big words, and then explains that it’s ‘fancy for’ something else. All in all, the “Fancy Nancy” books are definitely a worthwhile read for your child!
