The sequel to the famous “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator” is delicious, although perhaps not quite as much as its prequel. Charlie continues his escapades with his grandparents and the famous Willy Wonka, even venturing out into space and encountering aliens. This is a lighthearted addition for the ‘Chocolate Factory’ lovers that gets very wacky but is fun to read. Kids will laugh at the roller-coaster plot and the animated characters, and this book is a dramatic sequel to a very sweet story. Kids who liked Charlie’s adventures might also enjoy Roald Dahl’s other books that feature engaging characters and plots, like “James and the Giant Peach” and “The BFG.”
