Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Roald Dahl struck gold when he devised this story about a simple boy who ends up with a gold ticket to visit the famed Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The characters in it are colorful and exaggerated, which makes their journey through the chocolate factory hilarious, as each of the other children chosen to visit the factory are edged out of the tour. Not only is the book wildly funny and chocolate craving inducing, it has an underlying lesson of the benefits of being good. Kids will love this book almost as much as they love chocolate, and it will stir their imaginations with Dahl’s depictions of Oompa Loompas and chocolate waterfalls. If your child was a fan of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” they will probably like the sequel, “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator,” as well as any other Roald Dahl book, some of which are “Matilda” and “The BFG.”
